Introducing the Site’s Official LiveJournal Community!
filed in Site

Over the past few months, it has become increasingly difficult to work on some of the upcoming features of the site without getting any suggestions from you the visitors. That is now over, however, with the creation of a LiveJournal community!

The community is a place for staff members to post and share different things they are working on for the site and to get feedback from other staff members as well as visitors of the site. Not everything that is being worked on will be posted, but it will still give you a bit of a look behind the scenes into the making of different site features.

The community is currently members only, so you will need a LiveJournal account to join. It is fast and easy to create one if you don’t have one already. If, for whatever reason, you do not feel like joining, you can always leave an anonymous comment on the suggestion box entry.

We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts!

BBC announces Doctor Who: Worlds in Time MMO
filed in Doctor Who

The BBC announced the development of a new free-to-play multiplayer online game to be based on the Doctor Who TV series.

The corporation overlooked the British game development industry and chose San Francisco-based independent game developer Three Rings to develop the game.

“For the first time ever, players from around the world will be able to follow in the footsteps of the eccentric and brilliant Doctor by travelling through time and space, exploring new worlds and encountering many alien races, both friend and foe,” the BBC said in a release.

The game to be called Doctor Who: Worlds in Time, invites players to ‘save the universe’ by using their wits to solve time-bending puzzles.

The BBC said that Three Rings is the ‘ideal team’ for the game, apparently being ‘lifelong Doctor Who fans’. Development is well under way, the Beeb said, with the game expected to appear later this year.

Matt Smith Says Doctor Who Is The ‘Greatest’ Role
filed in Doctor Who

Matt Smith attended the opening of the new ‘Doctor Who Experience’ attraction in London on Sunday (20.02.11) and admitted he feels privileged to be playing the ”greatest television part” in Britain.

Matt Smith says starring in ‘Doctor Who’ is the “greatest television part” in Britain.

The 28-year-old actor met fans young and old as he attended the opening of the ‘Doctor Who Experience’ at the Olympia venue in London on Sunday (20.02.11) and admitted he feels privileged to play the titular Time Lord and loves all the fun he gets to have as the character away from the TV series.

He told BANG Showbiz: “In my mind it’s the greatest television part in this country, and one that I really relish and enjoy doing. And I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful writer (Steven Moffat) behind me who makes it unpredictable and inventive, and really challenges what the show is about.

“Only this job affords you such rare opportunities, things like coming to the ‘Doctor Who Experience’. I’m aware it will only last while I’m doing ‘Doctor Who’ and then I’ll forever be saying, ‘I used to be Doctor Who!’ It’s a wonderful thing and it’s something that I’m here to enjoy, because it’s a rare thing to get an acting job that allows you to come to a thing like this and walk around and have fun.”

Matt came face-to-face with a host of enemies from the BBC show’s entire 48-year history, including several different generations of Daleks, a Zygon – who battled the Fourth Doctor Tom Baker in 1975 – an Ice Warrior – who clashed with Second Doctor Patrick Troughton – Cybermen, Weeping Angels and a huge K1 Robot, as well as a life-size model of himself.

The sci-fi star spent hours with his face covered in plaster to create the model and could only breathe with the aid of straws inserted in his nose, but he admits it was worth it to see the end result.

Matt joked: “Well, I think it looks like me. I did check it over, I mean, I would hope my skin tone is a little fuller! But I think they’ve done a good job. The whole team has worked really hard on this thing, it’s cracking.”

The ‘Doctor Who Experience’ also features an interactive 3-D walkthrough which allows fans to step inside the TARDIS and join The Doctor in a battle against The Daleks.

Regarding TV Quality Screencaptures
filed in Gallery, Site

This is a warning that two weeks from tomorrow, I will be deleting the TV quality caps of The Sarah Jane Adventures Series One from the gallery to make room for some new things as the site has a very low percentage of space left and I do not have the money to buy more. Please be sure to save any of these caps you would like before March 5, 2011 as after that they will no longer be available.

More of the TV quality caps will slowly be deleted, series by series, from the gallery at some point in the future but I will always give you at least a 2 week warning.

Thanks so much for understanding and I promise to have new images in the gallery along with more new features up and running very soon!

Doctor Who enemies mass for exhibit
filed in Doctor Who

Daleks and Cybermen from across the ages gather side-by-side in an unprecedented display of evil.

Its nothing to do with cracks in the space-time continuum bringing the different generations of foes together, but final preparations for a new exhibition.

The Doctor Who Experience will feature costumes and models from the BBC1 show as well as interactive sets when it opens on Sunday.

Among the attractions will be a chance to see how Cybermen have evolved since they were introduced in the 1960s, and visitors will see how Daleks have changed over the years.

The interior of the Tardis has also materialised at the exhibition in west Londons Olympia 2 venue.

Foes from days-gone-by will also feature such as the Giant Robot, dating back to Tom Bakers stint as the Time Lord in the 1970s.

But it is not just the Doctors enemies who are included in the exhibition. His robot companion K9 will also be among the characters on display.

It is the first time such an extensive array of artefacts dating back across all eras of the show has been brought together.

Further details of the exhibition are at www.doctorwhoexperience.com. It is expected to get a more permanent home in Cardiff from next year.

Right now there are only three, one for The Sarah Jane Adventures and two of Captain Jack, but more will be coming as soon as I make them.

If you would like to donate any love bars to the site, or have any suggestions for future love bar themes, feel free to contact me. If any love bars are donated, credit will be given to the maker.

Gallery Offline
filed in Gallery

I just want to let you all know that the gallery is currently offline due to my deleting some unnecessary files. Doing so requires I move some other files around, causing images to not work correctly. I do not know how long the gallery is going to be offline but this is a much needed maintenance to help keep things running smoothly.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!
