Changes and additions to the Gallery
filed in Gallery

I’ve been fiddling around with the gallery and have made some changes to the Sarah Jane Adventures category. I have removed the old Series 1 screencaptures and there are now DVD quality screencaptures in their place. I’ve also reorganized the episode stills for Series 1 so that instead of having an album for each episode, there is one album per story. There are also some other gallery updates.

Doctor Who Series 1 promotional images
Doctor Who Series 2 promotional images and episode stills
Stolen Earth and Journey’s End promotional images
Journey’s End episode stills
Doctor Who Confidential Series 1 screencaptures
Doctor Who Confidential Special ‘Backstage at Christmas’ screencaptures
Torchwood Series 1 promotional images
Sarah Jane Adventures Series 2 promotional images and episode stills

In addition, there are new Planet of the Dead promotional images and episode stills (BEWARE OF SPOILERS!).

As always, there are more gallery updates on the way!

Doctor Who Boss Moffat Is Up for Another Hugo
filed in Doctor Who, News

Steven Moffat, Doctor Who‘s new show-runner come 2010, is back again to torment his fellow television sci-fi writers at the 2009 Hugo Awards.

The writer and producer won Hugos for each of the first three seasons that Russell T. Davies’ updated Who ran on BBC1. With the fourth season behind us, Moffat’s been nominated again for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form, this time for his two-part Who story, “Silence in the Library” and “Forest of the Dead” (episodes that spawned the deadly Vashta Nerada, above).

Moffat is up against Davies in the category — as well as Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof of Lost, Joss and Zack Whedon of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and Bradley Thompson and David Weddle of Battlestar Galactica.

The winners will be announced at this August’s Anticipation Convention in Montreal.

Your chance to star as an alien on Doctor Who
filed in News

Not normally known for its science fiction output, BBC One’s Tonight’s The Night TV programme will be running a competition for a viewer to take part in a Doctor Who scene and work with the Doctor Who production team.

This scene will be broadcast in the final episode of Tonight’s The Night in April/May 2009 (subject to scheduling) and the winner will take a starring role – as an alien.

John Barrowman, told the Nest: “This is a fantastic opportunity and I can’t wait to see the winner experience performing on the set of Doctor Who.”

Viewers over 18 are invited to submit an application featuring a photograph of them in their home-made alien costume, along with information about their alien, such as where it’s from and its characteristics. A group of 50 applicants will be selected to meet a panel including John Barrowman and Doctor Who casting director, Andy Pryor. From these fifty, ten will be carried through to a final elimination. One applicant will win a trip to the Doctor Who set to work with the Doctor Who production team.

Hosted by Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman, Tonight’s The Night helps ordinary people live out their performing fantasies by duetting with a favourite pop group, singing with a band or the cast of a West End musical.

The competition is open to people in the UK over 18 and applications close on Saturday 28th March 2009.

The application form is over at http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/beonashow/docs/alien_search_application_form.doc

Doctor Who: Easter Sunday For First Special
filed in Doctor Who

April 12 will have the biggest Easter Egg of them all – the “200th” Doctor Who story, Planet of the Dead.
The listings magazine for Sky customers, Sky Mag, is reporting that the first of this year’s Doctor Who specials will be screened on Easter Sunday – April 12.

No specific time has been detailed but the BBC have scheduled Planet of the Dead for Week 15, which takes in April 11-17. Airing the special on the Sunday will ease the potential headache for schedulers as the Saturday night of April 11 will see BBC1′s Robin Hood squaring off against ITV1′s Primeval.

A trailer for the special was screened in the Millenium Stadium during the half time of the recent Six Nations Rugby game which would indicate that it will hit our screens this weekend, possibly after (or before) the Robin Hood series opener.

Planet of the Dead will also be screened on BBC HD, a first for Doctor Who, and stars Lee Evans (The Fifth Element) with Michelle Ryan (The Bionic Woman). The DVD already has a release date of May 11.

New Layout!
filed in Site

With Spring finally here (and the release of Planet of the Dead fast approaching), I made a new layout for the site! It isn’t using any of the (many) new images from Planet of the Dead because I want to try to keep everyone as spoiler-free as they want to be. The layout is a bit different this time, this time it focuses on just one aspect of the site. Instead of being Doctor Who/Torchwood/Sarah Jane Adventures-themed, the focus is solely on Doctor Who and features Rose and Mickey in the very first episode of the new series!

I’m very pleased with how it turned out and I hope you like it too. Let me know what you think in the comments!

More Planet of the Dead Images
filed in Gallery

Wow, I wish it were Easter already with all these images I’ve been finding for Planet of the Dead! In addition to the images I added last night, I’ve added some more tonight.

There are promos, stills, and behind the scenes images.

As I did last night, I uploaded more Doctor Who Confidential caps to help keep all those who want to be spoiler-free.

Enjoy!
